Ana Margarida Veiga Simão

Ana Margarida Veiga Simão is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Lisbon (FPUL). She coordinates the Interuniversity Doctoral Program in Educational Psychology (Coimbra-Lisboa) and the Master’s in Educational Psychology and Counseling at FPUL. As a member of the board and researcher at Pro-Adapt within the Center for Research in Psychological Science at FPUL, her work focuses on education psychology and digital safety.

Her research spans four key areas:

• Educational Psychology (self-regulation of learning, socially shared regulation, learning strategies)
• Teacher Training (pedagogical strategies, professional development, collaborative contexts)
• Educational Relations (peer violence prevention, bullying/cyberbullying, conflict management)
• Higher Education (digital methodologies, tutoring systems, online learning adaptation)

Recent publications highlight trends in cyberbullying prevention through serious games, self-regulated learning interventions, and digital education challenges. Notable projects include Te@ch4SocialGood (2021-2024) and the European EMPOWER initiative (2022-2025). Awards include the European Award for Lifelong Learning (Bronze Medal) and visiting professorships at Unicamp (2018, 2024). Her work bridges psychological theory with technological solutions for educational improvement.
