Dr. Ana MacIntosh serves as Director of Strategic Programmes Assuring Autonomy & AI at the University of York's Department of Computer Science. She leads major initiatives focused on safety and assurance of autonomous systems and artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on developing robust verification and validation frameworks for AI-enabled technologies.
Her research interests span safety and assurance of autonomy, artificial intelligence, robotics, and AI-enabled Autonomous Systems. Dr. MacIntosh takes a multidisciplinary approach that integrates perspectives from computer science, engineering, and safety science to address the complex challenges of ensuring trustworthy autonomous systems.
Dr. MacIntosh has secured significant funding for her initiatives, most notably the £16.2M UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in Lifelong Safety Assurance of AI-enabled Autonomous Systems (SAINTS), where she serves as co-investigator and Director of Operations. She also leads the Centre for Assuring Autonomy, a partnership between Lloyd's Register Foundation and the University of York.

Her background spans science, engineering and medicine, making her a strong advocate for collaborative working across disciplinary boundaries.
