Ana M. Džamić serves as an Associate Professor specializing in Morphology, Phytochemistry and Systematics of Plants at the Department of Plant Morphology and Systematics, Institute of Botany and Botanical Garden "Jevremovac", Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. She has been with the institution since 2000, progressing through academic ranks from Assistant Trainee to her current position as Associate Professor.
Her educational background includes:
- Doctor of Biological Sciences (2010) from University of Belgrade, Faculty of Biology with thesis on "Composition, antifungal and antioxidant activity of essential oils and extracts of selected species of the Lamiaceae family"
- Master of Biological Sciences (2004) from University of Belgrade, Faculty of Biology with thesis on "Chemical composition and antifungal activity of selected aromatic plants"
- Graduated biologist (1999) from University of Belgrade, Faculty of Biology with thesis on "Composition of essential oil of Lavandula stoechas L. (Lamiaceae)"
Professor Džamić's research focuses on plant morphology, phytochemistry and systematics, with particular expertise in essential oils and their biological activities. Her work centers on the Lamiaceae plant family, examining chemical composition, antifungal properties, and antioxidant capabilities of various plant extracts. Her research has significant implications for natural product development and plant-based pharmaceutical applications.
