Ana Lagarto serves as a Senior Midwifery Lecturer in the Department of Midwifery at Kingston University's School of Education, Midwifery and Social Work, part of the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education. Since joining the university in 2023, she has been dedicated to mentoring midwifery students and integrating her clinical expertise into education.
Her academic qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Nursing, an MSc in Midwifery, and an MRes in Clinical Research. She is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) for her teaching excellence.
Ms Lagarto's research centers on enhancing parental preparation during pregnancy, with a specialized focus on father involvement in the prenatal and early childhood periods. Her work aims to develop evidence-based strategies to support families through this transformative life stage, reducing stress and improving outcomes. She has designed and implemented parent education initiatives within the NHS and private practice.
In addition to research, she actively contributes to curriculum delivery for the Midwifery BMid (Hons) programs, including courses for both direct-entry students and registered nurses. Her clinical background in NHS Trusts across South East London informs her practical approach to midwifery education.
