معرفی
Prof Ana Jorge Sobrido is a Professor of Sustainable Energy Materials at the School of Engineering and Materials Science, Queen Mary University of London. She is the Research Director for the Sustainable Engineering Centre and the Director of the London Energy Materials & Devices Hub. She holds a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship and is an active member of key national research committees, including the UK Redox Flow Battery Network and the STFC Battery Steering Committee.
Her research expertise lies in the development of sustainable materials for energy storage and conversion. Her group focuses on creating freestanding materials using scalable techniques like electrospinning and 3D printing, with applications in redox flow batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, and water electrolysers. They also explore CO2 conversion and photoelectrochemical water splitting, often utilizing biomass waste as a sustainable feedstock. A key aspect of her work involves developing in situ characterization methods to understand structure-property relationships in electrochemical systems.
The recent publications of Prof Sobrido reveal a strong trend in sustainable electrocatalysis, advanced carbon materials, and innovative energy storage solutions. Her work spans from fundamental material synthesis to device integration and performance optimization, with a consistent emphasis on sustainability and scalability. Her research bridges materials chemistry, electrochemistry, and engineering to address global energy challenges.
Prof Sobrido has received several prestigious recognitions, including:
- UKRI Future Leaders Fellow
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC)
- Member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (MIMMM)
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
She leads an active research group and is involved in significant research funding through her UKRI Fellowship and leadership roles. Her work is supported by national collaborations and infrastructure, positioning her at the forefront of sustainable energy materials research. As Research Director and Hub Director, she plays a key role in shaping research strategy and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
Prof Sobrido leads the Sustainable Engineering Research Group, which focuses on developing next-generation sustainable materials for energy applications. The group specializes in scalable synthesis techniques and in situ characterization to advance the understanding and performance of electrochemical devices.
