Ana Chichester is a Professor of Spanish and Director of the Bachelor of Liberal Studies Program at the University of Mary Washington's College of Arts and Sciences. She works in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, with expertise in 20th-century Latin American literature and culture.
- B.A. in Spanish and French from Mary Washington College (1976)
- M.A. in Latin American literature from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1981)
- Ph.D. in Spanish from University of Virginia (1990)
Her research focuses on 20th-century Latin American literature, particularly the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, and includes special interest in the Boom period of Latin American novels and Genetic Criticism methodologies. She also directs the BLS special major in criminal justice.
Ana Chichester actively engages with academic communities through her roles in the Modern Language Association and Latin American Studies Association, while maintaining a strong teaching focus as evidenced by her recent participation in virtual town hall discussions on contemporary social issues.
