She teaches MSc courses in these areas and has a dual academic background in Cell Biology and Science Communication.
Her career spans research management roles (2005–2015) in university central services, postdoctoral work in science policy at the University of Sussex’s SPRU, and earlier freelance science journalism (2000–2002). Her PhD in Cell Biology (Lisbon/Edinburgh, 1997–2000) preceded a pivot to science policy via a science journalism post-graduation (CENJOR, 2000).
Research interests include science communication strategies, innovation policy, and the governance of research institutions. She has advised master’s students on topics like populist narratives in innovation, university research management, and international academic partnerships.
Key publications span science policy analysis, research funding mechanisms, and foundational cell biology studies on pollen tube signaling. Her work bridges empirical science communication practices with institutional research management challenges.
