Ana Barros is a Courtesy Faculty member in the Department of Forest Ecosystems & Society at Oregon State University’s College of Forestry. Her research focuses on wildfire dynamics, ecological resilience, and forest management strategies. She holds a BA (2006), M.Sc. (2008) from the Technical University of Lisbon, and a Ph.D. (2013) from the University of Lisbon, all in Forestry and Natural Resources.
Her work integrates ecological modeling, fire ecology, and policy analysis to address challenges in forest management and wildfire mitigation. Key areas include assessing wildfire selectivity, quantifying fuel treatment effectiveness, and developing strategies for cross-boundary risk governance. She collaborates on projects involving agent-based modeling to simulate fire-prone landscape outcomes and evaluates how diverse management approaches enhance ecological resilience.
Barros has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on wildfire resilience, fire regime scenarios, and invasive species impacts. Her research emphasizes practical applications for policymakers and land managers, focusing on balancing ecological, social, and economic dimensions of forest stewardship.
