Amy Wilkinson is a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology in the Department of Sport, Health and Exercise Science at the University of Hull, Faculty of Health Sciences. She is affiliated with the Sport, Health and Exercise Science (SHES) research group and contributes to the theme of Health and Health Inequalities.

Amy's research focuses on health behaviour change, the role of physical activity in health and wellbeing, and identifying barriers to engaging in healthy behaviours. She has applied experience from her work as an NHS Health Trainer and Health and Wellbeing Advisor, which informs her academic work. Her current research aims to design an electronic referral and reporting platform to improve connections between patients and specialist exercise interventions.
Her primary academic output is her 2021 PhD thesis, which explores stakeholder perspectives on referral processes to local authority healthy lifestyle programmes using mixed methods. The work contributes to understanding systemic challenges in public health delivery and highlights opportunities for digital innovation in healthcare referral systems.
Her awards include:

- Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2019)
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2024)
- 'Best Infographic’ at the International Teaching and Learning Conference (2024) for her work on imposter syndrome in early career academics
Amy leads teaching modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Sport and Exercise Psychology. She is an active educator and researcher with ongoing contributions to pedagogy and health intervention design. She is also involved in professional development through the Higher Education Academy.
Amy is affiliated with the Sport, Health and Exercise Science (SHES) research group at the University of Hull, where she collaborates on projects related to health inequalities and behavioural interventions.
