Amy Trenkle is a seasoned educator serving as a sixth-grade World Geography teacher at Alice Deal Middle School in Washington, D.C., part of DC Public Schools since 1999. Concurrently, she holds a faculty role at American University, teaching courses such as EDU-488 Meth, Matrl, Mgmt in Sec Ed I and EDU-489 Meth, Matrl, Mgmt in Sec Ed II. She is a National Board Certified Teacher in social studies/history and a National Geographic Certified Teacher.
Her educational background includes a Master’s in International Education from George Washington University and a second Master’s in American History (thesis in progress) from Pace University. She emphasizes experiential and place-based learning, leveraging Washington, D.C.’s museums, memorials, and historic sites to enrich her curriculum.
Amy has traveled extensively, including teaching in Austria, living in Belize, and studying education systems in Cuba, New Zealand, and Japan. In 2018, she explored Antarctica as a National Geographic Fellow.
