Amy Tidmarsh is a Lecturer in Textiles and Fashion at Manchester Metropolitan University and other institutions, specializing in textile design, craft practices, and art education. She holds a BA (Hons) in Embroidery from Manchester Metropolitan University (2012) and an MA in Textile Design from the Royal College of Art (2021), alongside a PGDipE in Further Education from Huddersfield University (2016).
Her research focuses on performative textiles, hand-based processes, and the role of e-learning in art and design education. Notable works include CRIMP, PINCH, DYNO (2021), exploring textile grids and material performance in collaboration with climbers. She is a member of the Art and Performance Research Hub.
Professional roles include Lecturer in Fashion Knitwear Design at Nottingham Trent University, Course Developer for BA Textiles at the Open College of the Arts, and Pathway Leader for Level 3 Foundation Diplomas in Art and Design across multiple institutions. Awards include The Textile Society’s Critical Writing Open Award (2021) and the Coates Foundation Bursary (2019).
