Amy Steigerwalt is a Professor and Department Chair of Political Science at Georgia State University’s College of Arts & Sciences. She also serves as Director of the Georgia Legislative Internship Program. Her research examines federal judicial selection, institutional roles of courts, and electoral dynamics impacting legislative behavior.
Research Focus: Steigerwalt’s work bridges American politics, public law, and gender studies, with a particular emphasis on how political institutions (e.g., courts, legislatures) shape policy outcomes and electoral strategies. She has published extensively on judicial confirmations, consensus-building in courts, and the intersection of gender and political vulnerability.
