معرفی
Amy Shafrir is an Assistant Professor at Merrimack College. Her research focuses on chronic disease epidemiology, particularly endometriosis and pelvic pain disorders, aiming to identify biological markers predictive of treatment outcomes. She leads the NIH-funded R21 grant studying nerve growth factors and chronic pain in endometriosis patients. Her work also addresses health disparities in endometriosis diagnosis through qualitative interviews.
Education: Sc.D. in Epidemiology from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, M.Sc. in Public Health Research from University of Edinburgh, and B.Sc. in Biology from Stonehill College.
Research interests include epidemiological methods, biological marker discovery, and qualitative health disparities analysis. Her NIH-funded work explores pelvic pain mechanisms, while her qualitative research investigates racial/ethnic barriers to diagnosis. She contributes to large-scale studies like the Women’s Health Study: Adolescence to Adulthood and the EndoQUEST cohort.
Key awards include the Best Clinical Poster Prize (2021) and NIH training grants. Her recent publications span endometriosis genetics, hormonal risk factors, and clinical trial outcomes. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams in gynecology, pain research, and public health.
