Amy Richards is a Lecturer in Law at Leeds Beckett University and a part-time Postgraduate Research Student in the Department of Sociology. Her academic career spans roles in both Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE), with a focus on law, criminology, and gender-based violence research.

Research Interests: Amy’s PhD research critically examines the role of criminal law in addressing domestic violence and abuse, centering on feminist perspectives and the needs of victim-survivors. Her work intersects with themes in gender studies, legal scholarship, and criminal justice reform.
Teaching and Academic Path: After years teaching law and criminology in FE institutions, she transitioned to HE while pursuing her PhD. Her research is supervised by Professor Nicole Westmarland and Professor Clare McGlynn QC (Hon).
