Amy R. Wolfson is a Professor at Loyola University Maryland in the Department of Psychology, College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Harvard University, M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Washington University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University. Her work focuses on adolescent sleep health and preventive interventions.

Dr. Wolfson’s research examines how school start times, sleep education, and socioeconomic factors impact adolescent sleep. She developed the Sleep Smart Program and led studies on circadian rhythms, sleep duration, and behavioral outcomes. Her collaborative projects include juvenile justice system sleep environments and sleep education for foster caregivers.
Recent publications highlight her cross-cultural analyses of sleep patterns, policy impacts on sleep health, and behavioral interventions. She co-authored the American Academy of Pediatrics 2014 Policy Statement on school start times and co-edited Sleep Health’s special issue on the topic. During the pandemic, she studied sleep variability in hybrid learning schedules.
Dr. Wolfson serves as associate editor of Sleep Health and on the Sleep Research Society’s Board of Directors. She actively involves students in her research and public health advocacy, emphasizing sleep’s role in academic and behavioral success.
