Amy Pfrimmer is a Professor of Music and Lillian Gerson Watsky Professor in Voice at Tulane University’s Department of Music (School of Liberal Arts). She has served as voice area coordinator and director of vocal music concerts since 2007. Her expertise spans vocal performance, pedagogy, and repertoire, with a focus on Romantic and 20th-century opera, oratorio, and French mélodie.
Education: M.Mus from Loyola University. She holds an endowed chair (Lillian Gerson Watsky Professorship), reflecting her scholarly and artistic contributions. Notable projects include recordings with MSR Classics and performances with orchestras such as the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and New Orleans Chamber Orchestra.
Research interests include sacred music, J.S. Bach, Puccini, Franck, and female composers like Cécile Chaminade and Louise Reichardt. She revived Tulane’s Opera Workshop, directing productions like Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief and Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.
Performance highlights include roles in La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, and Pierrot Lunaire, alongside recitals in France and international collaborations. Her recordings have been praised for technical precision and expressive depth.
