Amy Moran-Thomas is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at MIT, affiliated with the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. Her work focuses on health technologies, planetary health, and inequities in chronic disease management. She holds a PhD from Princeton University and postdoctoral training at the Woodrow Wilson Institute and Brown University's Cogut Humanities Center. Her research includes a seminal book on diabetes in Belize, Traveling with Sugar, and investigations into racial biases in medical devices like pulse oximeters. She leads climate and health projects, including the ACLS-funded Sugar Atlas initiative. Awards include the Edgerton Faculty Achievement Award and the Levitan Prize.
