Amy L. Seybert is Professor and Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, holding the Dr. Gordon J. Vanscoy Endowed Chair. Previously, she served as Chair of the Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Associate Director of Pharmacy Programs at WISER. Her expertise spans simulation-based education, cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, and medication safety. She has trained over 100 pharmacy residents and led the largest pharmacy residency program in the U.S. Dr. Seybert’s research focuses on integrating simulation into healthcare education and improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices.
Education: BS and PharmD from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a pharmacy residency in cardiovascular critical care at Tampa General Hospital. She has authored over 85 peer-reviewed manuscripts and secured grants as Principal or Co-Investigator.
Research Interests: Simulation in pharmacy education, interprofessional training, cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, and medication error reduction. She pioneered the use of high-fidelity simulation for teaching clinical decision-making and patient safety.
Awards include the ACCP Education Award (2024), AACP Distinguished Teaching Scholar (2021), and Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award (2006). She has held leadership roles in ACPE and ASHP.
Grants and Advising: Principal Investigator on 14 grants and co-investigator on 20, with a focus on educational innovation and clinical pharmacy advancements. Advised over 100 residents and students through residency programs.
Labs/Teams: Led development of the cardiovascular specialty residency program and contributed to the Peter M. Winter Institute for Simulation, Education, and Research (WISER). Active in interprofessional education initiatives.
