Amy Kunkle, EdD, is an Assistant Professor and Accreditation Coordinator in the Department of Education at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Her research emphasizes effective professional learning through coaching, mentorship, and relationship-building. She holds an EdD in Curriculum & Instruction Leadership from Carson-Newman University (2016), an MEd in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee (2007), and a BA in English Literature with an Elementary Education minor from the same university (2007).
Dr. Kunkle’s career spans K-12 teaching, educational policy, and consulting. She began as a fourth-grade teacher in a Title 1 school (2007), later becoming a TAP Mentor and Master Teacher. From 2014–2018, she worked with the SC Department of Education as a Regional Master Teacher, focusing on professional development and equity in rural/high-poverty areas. She transitioned to educational consulting, specializing in strategic planning, recruitment, and leadership development. She has taught adjunct courses at USCB since 2016 and joined the full-time faculty in 2023.
Her current roles include teaching Senior Seminar, supervising education interns, and overseeing accreditation processes. She is certified as a NIET Rubric Trainer/Evaluator (SC/TN) and holds active SC teaching certification (K-5).
