Amy Hinkelman is an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine, Campbell University. Her research focuses on immunology, host immune responses to viral infections, and factors influencing immunization acceptance in rural populations. She has contributed to studies funded by the CARES Act Grant investigating COVID-19 transmission and disease severity. Her work integrates interdisciplinary community initiatives, collaborating with tribal and academic partners through Interfaith America to address public health challenges. Dr. Hinkelman emphasizes involving students in research to foster culturally competent healthcare practices.
