Amy Fusting is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at the William H. Bowen School of Law. She holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Arkansas (1986) and a J.D. from George Washington University Law School (1991). Her career spans legal practice, public service, and academia, with a focus on legal writing instruction and criminal justice reform.

Professional Experience: Served as assistant public defender in Maryland, legislative attorney for the Office of the Public Defender, program director for a capital punishment abolition nonprofit, and special assistant to Maryland’s Secretary of Labor. Played key roles in the Civil Rights Act of 1990 and Supreme Court confirmation hearings during her time as Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s aide.
