Dr. Amy Forbes is an Associate Professor of Humanities and Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) at James Cook University's College of Arts, Society and Education. With over 30 years of experience in journalism and tertiary education across the Philippines, the U.S., and Australia, she has held roles at institutions like De la Salle University and Monash University before joining JCU in 2008. Her research focuses on journalism, media studies, communication, and educational practices, with a strong emphasis on work-integrated learning and multiculturalism.
She has authored and co-authored numerous publications, including her 2023 book *Interviewing: A Guide for Journalists and Professional Writers* (Routledge). Her work explores topics such as censorship in media, mental health in social work education, and the evolving role of academics in higher education. Dr. Forbes has received the 2014 Office for Learning & Teaching Award for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, recognizing her leadership in curriculum development for multimedia journalism.
