Amy E. Lindsey is an Associate Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology at Utica University within the School of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on the assessment of sensory and motor function in central nervous system injury and disease, integrating expertise in psychophysics and visual behavior.
- B.S. in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford
- M.Ed. in Instruction and Learning from the University of Pittsburgh
- Ph.D. in Psychology from Vanderbilt University, with research on retinal regeneration and psychophysical measurement of visual behavior at the Vanderbilt University Vision Research Center
Dr. Lindsey’s research explores the intersection of neuroscience and rehabilitation through psychophysical methods. Her work investigates how visual behavior is affected by central nervous system injuries and diseases, employing rigorous sensory and motor function assessments to inform clinical applications.
Dr. Lindsey actively contributes to professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and Vision Science Society, where she serves on the advisory board for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her academic service at Utica University includes a four-year tenure as psychology department chair and involvement with the American Association of University Professors board. She also reviews for the Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness.
Outside academia, Dr. Lindsey is an elected member of the Utica Lions Club and volunteers as a career mentor with the American Foundation for the Blind, highlighting her commitment to community engagement and mentorship.
