Amy E. Leonard is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Georgetown University, specializing in early modern European history with a focus on women, gender, and sexuality during the Reformation in Germany. Since joining Georgetown in 1999, she has taught courses such as 'Women and Gender in Early Modern Europe,' 'The Reformations in Europe,' 'The Witch Persecutions,' and 'The Holy Roman Empire.' Her work has been recognized through multiple teaching awards, including the prestigious 2024 Edward B. Bunn, S.J. Award for Faculty Excellence. She has authored and edited influential publications like Nails in the Wall: Catholic Nuns in Reformation Germany (University of Chicago Press, 2005) and Embodiment, Identity, and Gender in the Early Modern Age (Routledge, 2021), and is currently researching the history and Reformation of virginity.
