Amy Daughton

Amy Daughton is an Associate Professor in Practical Theology at the Department of Theology and Religion, University of Birmingham. Her research explores intersections of theology, politics, and ethics, focusing on moral life, intercultural encounters, and justice in plural societies.

Her research has two primary strands: (1) Paul Ricoeur's philosophy, particularly its application to intercultural ethics and institutional responsibility, and (2) political theology analyses of contemporary issues like Catholic Social Thought (CST), the capability approach, and care labor dynamics. She emphasizes theology as a practical discipline informing public reasoning.

Recent publications highlight her work on CST's relevance to political populism, Ricoeur's hermeneutics, and ethics in educational practice. She also directs the Professional Doctorate in Practical Theology, supporting theological inquiry in professional contexts such as healthcare, education, and politics.
