Amy Chandran is an Assistant Professor of Humanities at the Hamilton School, University of Florida. Her work bridges historical and contemporary political theory, focusing on sovereignty, freedom, religion, and democratic institutions.

Chandran's research examines classical and early modern concepts of honor, authority, and legitimacy, alongside psychological dynamics in political agency. Her current book project, Mortal God: The Religious Imagination and the Making of Leviathan, re-evaluates Thomas Hobbes's contributions to equality and representation through Leviathan's religious analysis.
She has previously held positions as a College Fellow at Harvard and a lecturer at Brandeis University, and worked as a policy adviser in Australia. Her publications appear in journals like Modern Intellectual History, History of European Ideas, and Hobbes Studies.
