Amy Caton is an Instructional Associate Professor and Director of the Writing Lab and The Studio at Texas A&M University at Galveston, Department of Liberal Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in Learning Technologies (University of North Texas, 2024), M.S. in Information Sciences (2012), and B.A. in English (Texas State University, 2006).
Her research focuses on digital literacy fluency, STEM education, and science communication. Notable contributions include integrating generative AI in writing pedagogy and exploring underrepresented students' success in STEM. She actively promotes inclusive educational spaces, having led projects like the Learning Commons redesign and innovative studio design for distance learning.
Recognition includes the National College Learning Center Association’s Innovative Use of Technology Award (2021) and Vice President’s Outstanding Classroom Teaching Award (2017). She serves as Publications Officer for the National College Learning Center Association’s board.
Caton teaches courses like Composition & Rhetoric, Thesis Writing, and Science Communication. As a futurist, she advocates for meta-learning strategies and digital literacy as foundational skills for lifelong learners.
