Amy Caples serves as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Media Studies and Production department at Temple University's Lew Klein College of Media and Communication, where she has taught since 2005 after transitioning from a 20+ year broadcast journalism career.
Her educational foundation includes a BA in Radio-Television-Film from Temple University, directly informing her practical approach to media education.
Caples specializes in broadcast journalism and media performance, leveraging her Emmy-nominated reporting background and six years as CBS3 morning co-anchor to teach real-world media production techniques. Her expertise spans breaking news coverage, consumer issue reporting, and parenting-related media franchises developed during her Philadelphia broadcast tenure.
She has received the SCT Excellence in Teaching Senior Faculty Award (2011) for her instructional excellence.
Caples teaches core undergraduate courses including Klein College Introduction to Professional Development (KLN 1002), Media Performance (MSP 3721), and Senior Seminar (MSP 4039), focusing on professional skill development for emerging media practitioners.
