Amy Brock is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, holding the Raymond F. Dawson Centennial Teaching Fellowship in Engineering. Her research focuses on cancer systems biology, exploring mechanisms of cellular heterogeneity, gene regulatory networks, and chemotherapy resistance. The Brock Lab develops interdisciplinary approaches combining systems biology, microfabrication, and computational modeling to study tumor cell-state dynamics and therapeutic responses. Key interests include clonal evolution under drug pressure and the role of cellular plasticity in disease progression.
Her lab’s work has led to innovations like the ClonMapper barcoding system for high-resolution clonal tracking and functionalized lineage tracing tools. Recent studies investigate how intratumoral heterogeneity influences treatment outcomes in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Awards include the Centennial Fellowship, recognizing her contributions to engineering education and research.
Notable projects include analyzing doxorubicin responses using lineage tracing and modeling ECM stiffness effects on cancer cell adaptation. The lab collaborates across disciplines to advance personalized medicine strategies targeting heterogeneous tumor populations.
