Amy Benvie is an Instructor II in the Department of Mathematics at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). She specializes in supporting students who have historically struggled with mathematics, aiming to enhance their success in college-level math courses. A graduate of FGCU herself, Benvie holds a BA in Mathematics and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the same institution. She currently serves as Faculty Advisor to the Catholic Student Organization (CSO) and FGCU Students for Life.
Her teaching portfolio includes courses such as Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Elementary Calculus, Finite Mathematics, General Mathematics, Precalculus, and Calculus I. Benvie’s pedagogical approach emphasizes accessibility and student-centered learning, leveraging her own academic journey as an FGCU alumna to connect with students.
Outside academia, Benvie enjoys family time with her husband, Paul, and their sons, Eli and Luke.
