Dr. Amy Bannatyne is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Phase 1 Student Support Lead in the Medical Program at Bond University, Australia. She holds a PhD from Bond University, alongside a Master of Psychology (Clinical) and Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) with Honours, all from Bond University.
Her research focuses on reducing volitional stigma in eating disorders through educational interventions and improving measurement of disordered eating in pregnancy. She developed the Disordered Eating Attitudes in Pregnancy Scale (DEAPS) during her PhD. Additional interests include mental health stigma in healthcare and tertiary environments.
Recent projects include benchmarking simulated participant programs via Delphi studies and exploring emotional intelligence in medical student selection. She has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed publications and presented at international conferences on topics like healthcare training and stigma reduction.
Amy supervises student research and leads educational initiatives, including health communication video projects for medical training. She has served as an external examiner and actively participates in academic networks addressing mental health and medical education challenges.
