Amos Folarin is a Senior Software Development Group Leader and Statistician at King’s College London's NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), based in the Department of Biostatistics & Health Informatics within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). His work focuses on developing embedded software teams and digital health technologies for clinical research, particularly in mental health and chronic disease monitoring.
Education Background: Trained in biochemistry/molecular biology, he transitioned to computational biology and has over 16 years of experience in data science and software development across institutions like Birkbeck, UCL, and King’s College London.
Research Interests: Mobile Health (mHealth), Clinical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Genetics, and wearable device applications for remote monitoring of conditions like ADHD, depression, and chronic illnesses. Key projects include the RADAR-base platform for wearable data collection and the ART program for ADHD research.
Grants & Funding: Received £2.5M MRC funding for the ART-transition study on ADHD in young adults. Involved in large-scale projects like CONVALESCENCE (long-term effects of COVID-19) and EDIFY (eating disorders in youth).
Teams & Collaborations: Leads the Maudsley BRC Bioinformatics group and collaborates with global consortia (e.g., RADAR-CNS, BigData@Heart) on digital phenotyping and wearable technologies.
