Amori Mikami

Dr. Amori Mikami is a Professor and Associate Head for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley (2004) and is a registered clinical psychologist in British Columbia. Her academic roles include serving as Canada Research Chair in Clinical Child Psychology and leading EDI initiatives in the department. Dr. Mikami specializes in clinical child psychology, with a focus on how classroom and home environments influence children's peer relationships, particularly for those with social challenges. Her work emphasizes designing interventions to support teachers and parents in fostering positive peer dynamics.

Her research spans clinical, developmental, and educational psychology, addressing topics such as ADHD, social skills training, and the impact of social media on mental health. Dr. Mikami has received significant recognition, including the UBC Killam Research Prize (2018) and the Association for Psychological Science Rising Star Award (2011). Her lab focuses on interventions targeting peer functioning in children with ADHD, as well as broader issues in equity and inclusion in academic settings.

Dr. Mikami’s contributions extend to EDI efforts, aiming to create more inclusive environments within UBC’s Psychology Department.
