Ammar Muthanna

Ammar Muthanna is an Associate Professor in the Department of Telecommunication Networks at Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications. Since 2020, he concurrently serves as Director of the Scientific Center for Future Wireless Networks Modeling at RUDN University. He holds a B.Sc. (2009), M.Sc. (2011), Ph.D. (2016), and Dr.Sc. (2023) from Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, with international experience including Erasmus studies at the University of Ljubljana (2012–2013) and research at Tampere University (2014).

His research spans wireless systems, AI-driven networks, and distributed computing. Key focus areas include:

• 5G/6G architecture optimization
• Edge/fog computing for IoT scalability
• AI applications in traffic forecasting
• Software-defined networking

Prof. Muthanna holds leadership roles in IEEE (Senior Member) and ACM (Professor Member), chairs technical committees for Scopus-indexed conferences, and edits for Web of Science/Scopus journals. He contributes to ITU-T standards (SG11, SG13, SG16) and co-organizes the AI-5G-Challenge at ITU.
