Amitabh Verma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Georgia's College of Environment and Design. His work bridges design education, urban development, and cultural preservation. He holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and has over 12 years of professional experience in urban design, architecture, and historic preservation across the U.S. and India.
Research interests include Design Communication (focusing on hand graphics and mental health benefits of sketching) and Urban Design (addressing challenges in Indian urban development). He teaches studios emphasizing placemaking and integrates creative expression through visual design. As an artist, he explores drawing, silk dyeing, and UX design, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach.
Recent publications explore digitalization’s impact on architectural education, pandemic communication strategies, and traditional design techniques. His work highlights the intersection of technology and human-centered design. Professional outreach includes advocacy for endangered cultural traditions and community-driven projects like the Biodiversity Action Plan for Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.
