Eric MacDonald is an Associate Professor at the University of Georgia’s College of Environment + Design (CED), specializing in cultural landscape preservation, environmental history, and landscape architecture. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Design and Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has worked at the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office. His research integrates ecology, landscape architecture, and historical discourses, as seen in his dissertation on the 19th-century journal Garden and Forest. Current projects include ecological design initiatives, such as a Biodiversity Action Plan for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and a foraging garden for chimpanzees in collaboration with Project Chimps.
Education: Bachelors in Landscape Architecture, Masters in Historic Preservation and Landscape Architecture, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Design and Planning. His work emphasizes community engagement and sustainable environmental practices. He advises student research projects and contributes to CED’s strategic goals, including its 2025 plan.
