Amit Mitra

Amit Mitra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Law at the Faculty of Business and Law, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). He is a research-active academic with a strong focus on information systems, digital transformation, and the societal impacts of technology, particularly in migration and healthcare contexts.

His research interests include:

• Digital transformation of organizations
• Social media and immigration
• Big data and cloud computing
• Digital ethnicity and human migration
• Intelligent assisted living for the ageing population
• Technologies of Freedom and digital anthropology

Dr. Mitra teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules in digital business, information systems, and virtual business management. His work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Strategic Change, Journal of Knowledge Management, and International Journal of Technology Management. His recent research emphasizes experiential narratives of social media use by migrants and philosophical explorations of technological freedom.

He has supervised doctoral programs in top-rated research departments and emphasizes intellectual engagement with technological challenges affecting human life.

Dr. Mitra is affiliated with the Bristol Business School and contributes to both research and teaching in digital business and information systems. He integrates interdisciplinary methods, including digital anthropology, into his scholarly work.
