Dr. Amirkianoosh Kiani is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering from Ryerson University, an MSc from Kiev Polytechnic Institute, and a BSc from Isfahan University of Technology.
His research focuses on advanced manufacturing techniques, including laser materials processing, micro/nano manufacturing, and energy materials. Key areas include nanomaterials for energy storage (e.g., pseudocapacitors, batteries), optoelectronic materials, and tribology of graphene-enhanced lubricants. His work integrates cutting-edge laser technologies with computational methods like AI-driven parameter optimization.
Dr. Kiani’s publications emphasize innovative fabrication methods (e.g., ULPING technique for nanostructured electrodes) and interdisciplinary applications in energy systems and biomedical devices. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work addressing challenges in supercapacitor degradation, electrochemical water splitting, and bioactive material synthesis.
His academic leadership includes guiding the graduate program and fostering collaboration between engineering disciplines. His lab focuses on translating nanoscale innovations into real-world applications for sustainable energy and advanced materials.
