معرفی
Amir Beck is a Professor in the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tel-Aviv University, actively contributing to optimization theory and applications since 2017. Previously, he held academic positions at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology from 2003 to 2017, including roles as Professor (2015-2017), Associate Professor (2010-2015), and Assistant Professor (2003-2005).
- Ph.D., Tel-Aviv University, School of Mathematical Sciences (2003)
- M.Sc., Tel-Aviv University, School of Mathematical Sciences (1997)
- B.A., Tel-Aviv University, School of Mathematical Sciences (1993)
His research focuses on continuous optimization, with emphasis on theoretical analysis and algorithmic development for gradient-based primal-dual methods, non-Euclidean gradient approaches, decomposition techniques, and nonconvex quadratic optimization. His work bridges mathematical theory with practical implementations in engineering and scientific applications, including linear discriminant analysis.
Beck has received prestigious recognition including the INFORMS Farkas Prize (2022), the Salomon Simon Mani Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Henry Taub Research Prize. He will be inducted as a SIAM Fellow (2025).
His research has been supported by grants from the Israel Science Foundation, German-Israeli Foundation, Binational US-Israel Foundation, Israeli Ministry of Science and Energy, and the European Community. He serves as Co Editor of Mathematical Programming Series A and Associate Editor for leading journals such as Mathematics of Operations Research and Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications.
