Amie Sarker

Dr. Amie Sarker is an Adjunct Professor of Education at the University of Dallas, specializing in literacy instruction, ESL, and linguistics. She holds a PhD in Literacy Education and Linguistics (University of North Texas), M.Ed. (UT Arlington), and B.A. (Dallas Baptist University). Her research focuses on culturally responsive teaching for culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students, teacher self-efficacy, and bilingual literacy in post-colonial contexts like Bangladesh.

Dr. Sarker has extensive experience in K-12 education, including roles as a literacy strategist in Texas public schools and EFL instructor in Taiwan/South Korea. She designed M.Ed. programs in Bilingual Education and Reading/ESL at Dallas Baptist University. She currently serves as President-Elect of TexTESOL V and Treasurer of the Christian English Language Educators Association. Her international work includes supporting rural schools in Bangladesh through an NGO.

Her research highlights culturally responsive pedagogy, literacy development for marginalized learners, and teacher preparation. Notable awards include the 2013 ALEER Outstanding Dissertation Award and 2014 IRA Finalist recognition. She regularly presents at national/international conferences on topics like global citizenship through literacy and equity in education.
