Amie Anastasi

Dr. Amie Anastasi is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Course - Science, Environment and Agriculture at Central Queensland University's School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences. She is affiliated with the Coastal Marine Ecosystems Research Centre. Her research focuses on ecotoxicology, water quality, and microplastics, with emphasis on environmental risk assessment and pollution ecology. She holds a BSc in Chemistry, BBiomedical Science (Hons), and a PhD.

Recent publications highlight advancements in microplastic trapping in seagrass meadows, electrochemical sensors for water quality, and household waste management strategies. Her work bridges environmental science with practical applications in policy and conservation.

Dr. Anastasi coordinates units like Professional Placement/Project, Sustainability Issues, Australian Botany, and Animal/Plant Physiology. She has secured grants for environmental monitoring and collaborated on projects with industry and public sector partners.

She leads the Coastal Marine Ecosystems Research Centre, focusing on seagrass ecosystems, mangrove sampling practices, and harbour health indicators. Her interdisciplinary approach addresses both ecological and societal challenges in environmental management.
