Ami Kunimura is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mind-Body Medicine at Saybrook University. She is the founder of The Self-Care Institute, focusing on burnout prevention, recovery, and sustainable self-care for individuals and organizations. Her academic roles include facilitating Saybrook's Mind-Body-Spirit Integration Seminar and prior teaching at UCLA and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Dr. Kunimura holds a Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University, a M.A. in Music Therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, and a B.A. in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University. Her research integrates social justice, music therapy, and racial equity in healthcare. She is based in Southern California and Hawaii.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary work addressing burnout through a lens of racial and social justice, as seen in her 2022 article in Music Therapy Perspectives.
