Dr. Amer Alaya is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Birmingham Dubai, part of the Birmingham Business School. He joined the institution in August 2023 and contributes significantly to the MSc Supply Chain program. Prior to this, he held leadership roles in academic programs at the British University in Dubai.

Dr. Alaya's research centers on supply chain resilience, operations fragility, risk assessment, and digital transformation. His work investigates how organizations can enhance operational resilience through strategic risk management and digital integration, particularly in the face of cybersecurity threats and global disruptions. He emphasizes co-creation and co-production in academic and industry collaboration.
His recent publications (2022–2024) reflect a strong focus on supply chain dynamics, organizational change during crises, and financial disclosures in emerging markets. The research spans interdisciplinary areas including management, education, construction, and finance, with a recurring theme of resilience and adaptation in uncertain environments.
Dr. Alaya actively supports humanitarian initiatives through Dubai Humanitarian and the Global Compact Network UAE, promoting sustainable supply chain practices in the humanitarian sector.
