Amelie Barras is Associate Professor in Social Science at York University, specializing in the intersection of law, religion, and politics with focus on secularism and Muslim communities.

Research examines how secular governance impacts religious minorities in Canada, France, and Turkey. Current projects analyze faith-based advocacy at the UN Human Rights Council and everyday negotiations of Muslim identity.
