Amelia Herb is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Arizona's College of Humanities, where she teaches technical and business writing and plays a key role in advancing AI communication and education on campus. She is actively involved in the AI Communications and Education teams, leads a Faculty Learning Community on AI for STEM Literature Reviews, co-leads a Collaborative Learning Community on Compassionate Pedagogy, and serves on the University-Wide General Education Committee.
Her research explores the rhetorical, social, and discursive aspects of STEM disciplines, with additional focus on technical communication, knowledge organization, and domain analysis. She advocates for equitable, human-centered communication technologies. Prior to her current role, she served as Assistant Director of Writing Across the Curriculum and Business and Technical Writing (2021–2023), was a Science Writing Associate at Princeton University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and taught Writing in the Disciplines at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) across numerous STEM fields.
Her work has earned recognition from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) EurekaAlert! for science communication excellence. She has taught courses including ENGL 308 (Technical Writing), ENGL 307 (Business Writing), and ENGL 313 (Introduction to Professional & Technical Writing).

Amelia Herb has held leadership roles in curriculum development and faculty education, including directing writing programs and leading interdisciplinary learning communities. She has not advised graduate students as per available information. She contributes to institutional initiatives in general education and AI literacy, and is deeply embedded in efforts to improve scientific communication and pedagogical practices across STEM.
She is associated with the Writing Program at the University of Arizona and has collaborated with faculty across engineering, computer science, physics, biology, and other disciplines to enhance writing instruction.
