Amelia Hall is a Core Associate Professor and Dean of the Graduate Collective at Naropa University. She holds a DPhil in Tibetan and Himalayan Studies from the University of Oxford (2013), an MPhil from the same institution (2007), and a BA in World Art History from the University of East Anglia (1996). Her research focuses on sacred landscapes, environmental ethics in Himalayan contexts, and the intersection of Buddhist Tantra with ecological practices.
Her academic programs include BA Religious Studies, MA Yoga Studies, and Master of Divinity. Courses taught span Buddhist Tantra, Tibetan Buddhism, and modernity's engagement with religious traditions. Recent work explores interspecies reciprocity in the Anthropocene and ritual practices addressing environmental change.
Publications include analyses of Tibetan ritual expiation and environmental restoration, as well as contributions to Brill’s Encyclopedia of Buddhism. She has presented at major conferences like the American Academy of Religion and the International Association of Tibetan Studies, focusing on topics like klu rituals, translation challenges in Tibetan texts, and decolonizing Himalayan research.
Collaborations include editing works on Dalai Lama autobiographies and Tibetan treasure revealers. Her scholarship bridges historical, environmental, and spiritual dimensions of Himalayan cultures.
