Dr. Amelia Fleming is a Lecturer in Theology at Carlow College, teaching across Humanities, Social Care, and Social, Political and Community Studies programmes. She specializes in Biblical Studies, Fundamental Moral Theology, and Theology of Social Justice. Her current research focuses on contemporary interdisciplinary interpretations of the Bible, particularly women’s roles in scripture. She holds a PhD from the Pontifical University, Maynooth (2002), focusing on the Theology of Conscience and John Henry Newman.
Amelia has served as a visiting lecturer at the Milltown Institute, online tutor at the Priory Institute, and tutor at the Pontifical University, Maynooth. She regularly acts as an external examiner for Masters degrees in Theology/Pastoral Studies at Maynooth. She is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the European Association of Biblical Studies.
Her publications include works on moral theology, Newman’s theological contributions, and contemporary ethical discourse. She contributes book reviews to Doctrine & Life and The Furrow, and peer-reviews articles for the Irish Theological Quarterly. Her research emphasizes critical engagement with traditional theological frameworks in modern contexts.
