Amber Chatelain

Dr. Amber Chatelain is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Midway University, where she joined the faculty in 2023. With over 16 years of experience in higher education, she has held leadership roles in academic programs and curriculum development across multiple institutions, including Eastern Kentucky University and the Art Institute of Tennessee-Nashville.

Her education includes a pending DBA in Business Administration from Marshall University, an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Argosy University-Nashville, an M.A. in Interior Design, Merchandising, and Textiles, and a B.S. in Merchandising, Apparel, and Textiles from the University of Kentucky. She also holds a Certificate in College Teaching & Learning from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Chatelain’s research focuses on small businesses, consumer behavior, social responsibility, entertainment retailing, dress and gender, and instructional pedagogy. Her recent work explores customer perceptions of small business responses to local community crises in small to medium-sized towns. She has published academic research papers, book chapters, and web-based publications, presenting her findings regionally, nationally, and internationally.

She has taught over 42 undergraduate courses and has been recognized with 10 teaching awards, including multiple recognitions as Creative and Critical Thinking Teacher of the Year at EKU. Her teaching philosophy centers on relational learning, experiential education, and fostering critical and creative thinking.
