Professor Amaury Triaud is a Professor of Exoplanetology and Birmingham Fellow at the School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Birmingham. His research focuses on the formation and evolution of planetary systems, particularly circumbinary planets and Earth-like exoplanets orbiting small stars. He co-discovered the TRAPPIST-1 system through the SPECULOOS collaboration, a key target in the search for extraterrestrial life.
He holds qualifications including MPhys, PhD, and Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS). His work bridges empirical astrophysics with public engagement, leveraging collaborations with science festivals, museums, and media outlets to enhance science literacy. Amaury actively promotes science in cultural products like films and graphic novels, emphasizing the intersection of art and scientific discovery.
His outreach efforts include editing the TRAPPIST-1 website and frequent media commentary on astronomical breakthroughs. While no specific grants or advising roles are detailed here, his research emphasizes observational astronomy and exoplanetary systems' uniqueness compared to our Solar System.
