Amany Hassan

Amany Hassan, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Education & Health Systems Science at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM), part of the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC). She holds a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences and MS in Environmental Studies from Alexandria University, Egypt, and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.

Her research focuses on health outcomes and the scholarship of teaching and learning, with expertise in observational research using electronic medical records and insurance claims data. She has over 10 years of experience in curriculum design and assessment, particularly in advancing Health Systems Science (HSS) curricula. Currently, she collaborates with TCOM faculty to implement and evaluate a novel HSS program, emphasizing innovation in medical education.

Dr. Hassan’s funded projects include an AACOM-sponsored initiative to develop health informatics curricula using case-based simulations and a needs assessment for a new 'Policy in Health Care' curriculum. Her work bridges clinical practice and education, addressing disparities in care through social determinant screening and evidence-based training for future healthcare professionals.

Her publications span pharmacotherapy outcomes, medical education interventions, and chronic disease management strategies. Key topics include anticoagulant safety (e.g., rivaroxaban), COPD patient education, and discharge planning strategies to reduce readmissions.
